While Muir Woods National Monument is typically open 365 days a year, unexpected closures may occur due to fire hazards, fallen trees, mudslides, rockslides, or other emergencies. Here's what you need to know:
Refunds for Active Reservations
If the park is officially closed by the National Park Service (NPS), all active reservations will be automatically refunded. There is no need to take any action. A notification email will be sent at the time of the refund to confirm the cancellation.
Important Notes for Visitors
- Until an official closure is announced, the standard cancellation policy remains in effect. This means refunds are only available for cancellations made more than 72 hours before the reservation.
- If road closures or extreme weather prevent access to the park within 72 hours of your reservation, you may qualify for a refund.
Additional Note on Refund Exceptions
If you believe your situation warrants an exception to the refund policy, do not cancel your reservation on your own. Instead, contact customer support before taking any action. Exceptions can only be considered for active reservations, and once a reservation is canceled by the user, it may no longer qualify for review.
